I (Mike Z) have decided to close Roundabout Candles. This was not an easy decision to make, but ultimately it's a very freeing one.
I started this business during the summer of 2022 when I was on parental leave with my first son. Starting my own candles business was something that I've wanted to do for years, and with my company's generous leave policy for new parents I decided to launch Roundabout Candles in between diaper changes and midnight feedings.
The response was overwhelming and I couldn't believe people actually wanted to buy my candles! I started attending more and more in person markets, expanding my product offering and thinking of ways to make Roundabout Candles bigger and better. I knew there would be a natural plateau with what I would be able to achieve with Roundabout Candles, as I have a growing family and a demanding full-time job, but I still wanted to do as much as I could.
After a truly exhausting fall and holiday season at the end of 2023 I decided to take January 2024 off from candle making. January turned to February and I still wasn't completely ready to return, then by March I was juggling a few big projects while thinking of my spring line. When my whole family got taken down with the flu mid-March and I had no choice but to continue resting, I knew I could not continue to pace I maintained in 2023. I decided to close up Roundabout Candles, but not before launching my final seasonal collection.
I hope you enjoy Seaside Succulent and Citrus Basil, as well as the rest of the fan favorites from my core collection that I've restocked. I'm planning one more restock on Monday, April 22nd and your final chance to place an order will be Friday, April 26th.
